Banty Coupe (51 Chevy)

avatarPicsArt_1374006101766

This car has been in Angie’s family since 1956. It got its name because it was Uncle Banty’s coupe. It sat in his garage from the late sixties until 2003 when we brought it home to restore. It has the original 216.5 oil slinger motor. We plan to keep it all original….for the time being. We will paint it down the road. This car has 42,000 original miles.

Uncle Banty

This is Uncle Banty…..and Aunt Bea. The car was purchased for Aunt Bea’s dad…Grandpa Griffin….They drive it from Iowa to Oregon in 56. He died and  Uncle Banty got the car back. He had many offers to buy the car but he always held tight…..saying it wasn’t for sale.  Even though it is a business coupe it has a backseat added.  It is just sat in there. The car is plain jane…..It has no radio and not much chrome. I love it. Reminds me just how frugal Uncle Banty was. I feel a connection to him when I am working on it. He was a great guy…..for an old renegade….I loved him dearly.bantyandbea bnb
